Background:
Derek was the second born of his generation in the Siler family. In his early years, he was a handful. He got into everything, played with mud, and chased cats around his grandparents' farm. When his twin sisters arrived, he marveled at them for a time, got bored quickly and returned to chasing the cats.
He was five when his cousin Josh moved in. Forced to share his room, he resented Josh for it. Over time, he forgot this as they grew close, bonding like brothers. They looked out for the twins, Ashley and Alicia, protecting them yet teasing them like brothers do. Not much older, he was more careful when Josh's sister Katie joined them.
Like his father and uncle, when he graduated high school, Derek joined the Air Force. He attended the academy earning high marks in flight- and he set his goals on becoming a fighter pilot. This dream was surpassed when he was tested and recruited into the SGC's F-302 program. He now serves and flight commander of the 302 on an off-world base.
