Characters Gifted Abilities-

Limited Telepathy-

Dragon Riders are known by their skills with their bonded mounts. They are specifically chosen by a limited telepathic connection to a specific dragon. This is how the dragon finds his or her intended psionic mount.

They can only use this with their dragon mount (the dragons can speak- telepathically to anyone- even a group- though they prefer only doing so with other dragons and their riders- of course- they will speak only to their own riders- not that of another dragon)

Animal Kin- dragon- all riders have learned to understand the dragons and can deal with them on a telepathic level- (only with dragons though) - they can communicate, empathize, and even deduce the dragon's state of being- the longer they have been "partnered" the closer the "relationship"

Elemental-

Brianna can control the four elements of the Universe; Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. She is capable of conjuring and ending any event or action that entails these four aspects of nature. This includes the ability of combining variations to her needs- such as Wind and Water to create storms. This ability’s strength is increased 10 fold when combined with the Storm Conjure breath weapon from Mustafa- her dragon mount.

Unique Weapon Staff-

Brianna a single psionic weapon that she is able to conjure. Pooling all of her psionic energies, she forms a solid staff of about six feet long which she holds mastery level combat skills with.

Metabolic Resistance-

Brianna has an innate resistance to Drugs, Toxins, Disease, and other harmful factors involving her metabolism.

Back Ground-

Typical attire- traditional dragon-rider clothing: leather two piece

Brianna grew up in the Citadel. Her parents were dragon riders. She, along with her brother and sister were expected to be so as well.

When she turned fifteen she was able to join the other potential riders in the arena on The Day of Dragons. The Choosing Time was an annual event when potential riders gathered in the arena to wait on the dragons selection. Every dragon, young and old, who desired to bond with a rider perched on the top rim of the arena. Only the dragons are certain of how they make their selections. And on this day, a young amethyst dragon name Mustafa chose Brianna. Like her, she was his first. The bond is meant to be for life.

Sadly, it was not to be for them. Barely ten years later, Mustafa was killed by soldiers serving an evil force. It marked the beginning of a war that ravaged the land side. Brianna did what she could to fight. It was difficult for her with the grief of loss. She returned to the Citadel and took a training position within the academy. It was one thing rider often did when their dragon passed.

In the years the past since Mustafa's death, on Choosing Day, Brianna would sit on the hillside. She'd watch as dragon after dragon picked their mounts and lifted off from the arena. It wasn't that she didn't want a new dragon, she wasn't ready.

In the third year, at the height of the war, Brianna again went to that hill. She stood under the grand oak tree to watch. Despite the few potentials and riders who showed, no dragons came that day to choose. She watched in horror as a brood of dragons of all sorts, swooped down and destroyed the arena. It was over. She could only hope that the people survived.

When those dragons left, Brianna made her way to the ruins of the arena. She sought survivors, gathering them into the lower levels. She sent a boy to find help for the injured.

The days were long and harsh, food was scarce, and still- thanks to the boy telling them, people gathered in the catacombs of the lower levels. Word spread that this was the place to be and Brianna was there to help.

These people looked to her for guidance, leadership, and hope. She didn't ask for it but she accepted the mantel just the same. Her parents found their way to her, proud of what she had stepped up to do when the need arose.

With their help and knowledge of the lower levels, they lead the people through the catacombs to the caverns beneath the Citadel.

There, she found a moment to herself. Near the ledge of the Great Cavern, she looked over the side to the mist the hid the bottom. Many believed there as none but she had wondered. How could they know for certain? Did they believe this simply because they couldn't see?

Why don't you climb down and find out? A voice, not her own, came to her thoughts.

She spun around, a hand on the dagger strapped to her hip. "Who's there? Who said that?"

Oh mind speak woman. he said. Or have humans forgotten their bonds so quickly?

You're a dragon! Brianna smiled with relief, taking her hand from the dagger. Where are you, great one? Where have your kind gone?

We hide, he said. A great evil threatens to return. One which my ancestors thwarted long before even my mother was hatched.

We know, the arena was attacked, it's no more, she said.

We know this. We also know of you Brianna of family Astrid. There was a scuffing sound, talons scraping against stone as the dragon moved. When one of us dies, we all sense it. We know of your pain, child. I have been waiting for you.

Waiting? I don't understand. Who are you? She asked.

I am Arion, an elder of the Sapphires. He snorted, with a burst of flames and the torches nearby sparked to life illuminating the area.

Brianna gasped when she saw him, his eyes shone with the reflection of the flames, his scales glistened in the light.

I knew your parents, your grandparents. I had selected you from birth, we dragons do this sometimes. Unfortunately, young ones can be impetuous and what is it humans say? They jump the line.

You're saying Mustafa wasn't supposed to bond with me? She asked.

Oh Heavens no, Arion chuckled. It's not like that. There's no predetermined selection, not officially. I saw your birth in the stars, in my dreams. Such is the way with dragons. Unfortunately, I was late that day. By the time I had arrived, Mustafa had already claimed you.

She approached him, placing her hand on his snout. I'm hear now. I don't know if I'm ready or how things will be but if you'll have me I'd be honored to ride with you.

I will help you heal and we will fly, he nudged her gently with is snout. Skyeward Astrid.

And there is was- if a dragon renamed you, the bond began.
