Augustin is a born native of Versailles. His father was a musketeer, his mother a seamstress . He is the eldest of 2 children with his sister almost 10 years younger than him.

For as long as he can remember, the friends he chose were like him, that is, they held the same dream. He wanted to be a Musketeer like his father. Not all of them fulfill this dream but for Augustin and the friends who had there was a bond of friendship and loyalty none could match or break.

The is until the day he met Chauni Bontecou. He lost his heart that day despite knowing he could never have her. There was an unwritten rule in Versailles, an understanding that no Psionic could marry a normal person. And Chauni was among the most dangerous- a creator of fire. Still, it did not stop him from wanting, his heart from yearning. So he focused on his duties to the King, the Prince Regent, France and the Musketeers.

When rumors of The Truth-Seekers came to his attention, he reached out to his friend and fellow Musketeer Abram DeWitt. All the man did was raise a finger to his own lips. Days later he received news that DeWitt had left the service for the church. Augustin rested in his belief that this meant his friend was involved, some how. He believed it meant that the Truth Seekers could be trusted.

Rumors spread like wildfires and Augustin did his best to douse the flames. He had no proof if discourse among the Seekers. He had no proof of who was involved. Then, one day, a note was slipped under his door. It simply read: Do not trust Delaney.

It made him laugh. He already disliked the man, trusting him, or rather not trusting, was not an issue for him. What it did was make him wonder who sent the note and who Delaney was connected to. Someone wanted him to know about the man and so he keeps watch.
